Death 05

DEATH 05 started in late 2005 when good friends George, Guy and Joe decided to start a band, the original idea was to create a band that made rock music you could dance to, in the vein of death from above 1979. The band went through a number of drummers before deciding that a drum machine would be the best way to go, with R-T arriving late summer 06, the band began playing gigs and parties straight away.

Recent gigs have included both the 14+ and the 18+ battle of the bands competition, although the campaigns were unsuccessful, (losing twice by less than 10 votes) the failures only fuelled the bands ambition to spread their music. The band recently recorded a 6 track demo CD in Guy’s bedroom and have been circulating them at recent gigs.

The Stratford Herald recently described us a “Fantastic electronic experimental band”, which sums us up pretty well I guess. However it is difficult to describe the sound of our songs, even by using comparisons with other artists, our main influences are; The Rapture, The Flaming Lips and Hot Chip. We tend to adapt ideas and musical techniques rather than the sound or style of these bands. The use of the drum machine in our songs means there are few limits to the beats we use, in most of our songs the beats would in fact be impossible for a drummer to play. Its difficult to pigeonhole our sound, I guess we’d be easily slotted in to the “New-Rave” genre, but we’d rather we weren’t. Anyway you can decide for yourself.
