The Oddsods

Music for a rare old time
There’s no holding back these guys. For nearly fifteen years, various line-ups of the Warwickshire folk band, The Oddsods have been delighting audiences of all ages with their special high-energy renditions of mainly Irish (and some Scottish and English) traditional songs and tunes.
Their style is suitable for all musical occasions - concerts, pub sessions, festivals, parties, beer festivals - wherever you'll find them, their mission in life is to have a good time and to make sure that the audience does as well.
The current line-up features founder member Simon Street (vocals, melodeon, bodhran and harmonica), plus Pete Willow (vocals, rhythm and lead guitars), Paul Kenny (vocals, tenor and 5-string banjos, guitar, mandolin and bodhran), Richard 'Doc' Rider (vocals, guitar, whistles and euphonium), and newest recruit, MICK SHALER (vocals, electric and acoustic fiddles).
The Oddsods have supported top Irish acts Noel Murphy, Sean and James Cannon and The Fureys and Davey Arthur. For sessions and acoustic gigs, it's not unknown for former Oddsods members to turn up and contribute to the band's quintessentially lively and uninhibited sound. There are also numerous musicians, including Sean Cannon of The Dubliners and fiddle ace Joe O'Donnell, who qualify as 'honorary' Oddsods having performed in public as part of the line-up.
Their wide repertoire ranges from traditional favourites such as Whiskey in the Jar, Irish Rover, Leaving of Liverpool, to contemporary folk classics like Belfast Mill, Green Fields of France and Dirty Old Town, with plenty of high-energy jigs and reels thrown in. They've been let loose on the airwaves on several occasions, including three appearances on BBC Radio WM's Carl Chinn Show, one of which included an interview on air in the middle of a song!
