The Beer Engine

This pub in Coventry has live music at least two nights a week, with free entry for all gigs, The Beer Engine in Coventry is a good place to see up and coming local bands. The current owners took over the pub two years ago. Since then, the Beer Engine has gone from strength to strength, finishing runner up in the Godiva Awards and being listed in the National good Beer Guide. There is also art exhibition space, where several local artists have already displayed their work.

Regular nights Bands play on Thursday and Saturday nights, as well as the occasional Friday. Thursday features acoustic acts or bands from outside the mainstream, such as metal, goth or folk bands. Saturday and some Friday's feature covers bands as well as some original groups. How do I get a gig? Send a demo and information about your band to the venue. They are keen to promote local bands who play original material. The venue will pay all bands for Saturday night gigs. They try to pay bands on a Thursday too, though this depends on the crowd as entry to all gigs at the venue is free.

Dogma

There's a little of Stark's designer St Martins Lane about Dogma - but with a warmth that comes from the wonderfully retro neon warmth of the lighting, fabulously debauch leather sofas and designer bistro style seating in both the main restaurant and café areas. Add a combination of live performance space, club, acid jazz inspired and focussed music and you get close to understanding the philosophy of "all life in one place." Downstairs@Dogma (Held the last Sunday of every month) promises to be the most exciting music night in Coventry, combining the best in local talent, with national and international artists whose 2006 looks very bright indeed.
