Malc’s solo career was restarted in September 2007 and he recorded the ‘Wake Up My Soul’ EP at the end of 2007. He had been playing the songs regularly in 2007 and 2008 saw him adding more and more new songs to his repertoire. His combination of songs, humour and delivery has been a key part in building a bigger fan base and re-bookings at the venues he plays. He also hosts the successful monthly acoustic night ‘Ditch The TV’, giving a platform for local, national and international acts to play to a listening audience. His song ‘Stalker’ is to be featured in the upcoming independent film ‘Do Elephants Pray?’, which has Mark Warren in the cast. Malc also co-wrote “What I’m Living For” which featured in the film “In A Man’s World”.
Malc Evans has been making music for as long as he can remember. His early years were spent singing solo and in choirs, playing classical guitar and tuba (yes, tuba!) in brass ensembles, brass bands, wind bands and orchestras. He only started out on the singer/songwriter live performer route in 2002.
His solo and full band shows are entertaining and are impressing audiences all over the UK. Malc’s goal is to engage audiences; to make them smile, laugh, maybe cry, provide food for thought, but above all to entertain! He writes about a variety of subjects concerned with everyday life, his faith, world issues, drawing audiences into his world. His songs can be both light-hearted and serious, protest songs, songs from the heart, songs for the heart. Every show is different, with confident delivery, in-between songs banter and jokes, with a new twist to the songs being delivered by choice or by chance. During 2008 and 2009 his solo shows and ‘The Malc Evans Band’ shows have been winning favour with local and national venues and promoters and the feedback just gets better and better!
In 2002 Malc was writing songs about his faith and protest songs telling stories of unwanted airports (NIMBY) and quarries (The Nine Ladies of Stanton Moor). An appearance on BBC C&W to perform NIMBY, and further invites to play at the main protest march and events surrounding the protest against a new ‘bigger than Heathrow’ airport for Coventry, fuelled the desire to perform and the realisation that he could.
In 2003 Malc teamed up with Nathan Bennett to form Plan A, then later Beneva, performing nearly 400 shows in 4 years, countrywide. They sang everywhere from Penzance to Newcastle, concentrating on the Midlands and London. They had an 18 month residency at the monthly acoustic club Upstairs At The Garage in London and ran their own acoustic night ‘Ditch The TV’ in Coventry. The highlight of their career so far was to play a support slot at The Forum in London and they’ve had the pleasure of supporting the likes of: Wheatus, The Feeling, Captain, Baz Warne (The Stranglers) and John Powers (Cast/The La’s).also co-wrote “What I’m Living For” which featured in the film “In A Man’s World”.
